What is a Butt Augmentation Surgery?
Butt Augmentation or
"Gluteoplasty"
is a surgical procedure performed to enlarge and round the female
buttocks. Butt augmentation can be performed by “fat grafting” or
“implant placement”. In the fat grating approach, fat from other
areas of the body is harvested and injected in the butt. In the
implant placement approach, an implant similar to that used to
augment the breasts is used to augment the buttocks.

Are you a Good Candidate for Butt Augmentation?
You would be a good candidate for butt augmentation by fat grafting
if you have fleshy areas that you can have the fat harvested from,
also if your butt doesn’t have any loose skin and if you desire only
a slight fullness in the butt. If you don’t have enough fat that can
be used, have loose skin on your butt or seek a well formed full and
curvy butt, you will probably need to have implants placed. If
you're satisfied with the size of your butt, however seek to have
the loose skin removed and have your butt lifted you may want to
consider a butt lift. Butt augmentation can be performed starting
age 21.
Preparing for Your Surgery
Before your surgery Dr. Metwally will perform a complete evaluation
with you. It is important that you relay to Dr. Metwally your own
view of an attractive butt according to your taste and expectations.
The augmented buttock has a natural feel and can be a bit firm like
you have been working out for a long time. The buttock implant
incision can be placed in the top on both sides of the upper buttock
(hidden in underwear or bikinis but quite visible when nude). It can
be made at the bottom in both of the gluteal creases, where your
butt cheeks meet the top of your thighs (still quite visible when
bending over). Or it can be made at the down center of the sacrum
down the buttock crease where the butt cheeks meet. Dr. Metwally
almost always makes that last incision since it is totally hidden
and only one incision is used to insert both implants. Also, Dr.
Metwally almost always places the implant below the muscle since it
gives the implant more support and gives an extra layer of coverage
so the implant feels more natural to the touch and has a nicer
shape. You will need to arrange for someone to drive you to and from
our center the day of the surgery. You should wear loose fitting
clothes and bear in mind that your outfit may get soiled. Do not
wear jewelry, contact lenses, or bring valuables to the operating
room. Remove all body jewelry from pierced body parts.
Duration of the Surgery
It takes around 1 to 2 hours for Dr. Metwally to perform a butt
augmentation surgery depending on the technique used.
Anesthesia Used
The surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia (you will
be asleep throughout the procedure). It can also be performed under
Regional Anesthesia (anesthetic injected in the spine, similar to
that used in child birth) where only the lower body loses sensation
but you will be awake. In this case you will be given sedation which
will make you relaxed and drowsy. You will be ready to leave after 2
to 3 hours from the completion of your surgery.
During Your Surgery
Fat Grafting: If fat grafting is the technique used in your case,
Dr. Metwally will start by taking fat from other fleshy parts of
your body via liposuction. In most cases he will perform liposuction
on the upper and outer sides of the buttocks, the love handles and
the outer thighs. By doing so he will have enough fat to inject in
your butt and your lower body contour will improve immensely adding
to the appearance of a younger, curvy and more lifted butt. He then
proceeds by injecting the suctioned fat cells into the desired areas
of your butt. Since the fat injected is your own fat, the body
always absorbs 50% to 75% of the fat. The remaining 25% to 50 % of
fat that is not absorbed during the first 3 months will be
permanent. Consequently re-injecting may be required after 4 months
for 1 or 2 more times to achieve the desired permanent outcome.
